Our First Bible Story: God Made Us Special

Our first Bible story of the school year was God Made Us Special, and we start here on purpose. We want every child in this building to know from the first week that God made them and that they are loved.

Bible stories unfold across a whole week at our preschool. Our teachers read a little at a time, day by day, so the story has room to settle. On Thursday we go back through it together, and our children fill in the parts they remember.

Coloring pages and crafts carry the story through the rest of the week. A child who colors a picture on Tuesday is still turning the story over on Thursday. Busy hands and big ideas work well together at this age.

This story does quiet work in a room full of three, four, and five year olds. Some of our children walked in the door for the first time this month. God Made Us Special tells every one of them that they belong here.

Faith and academics grow together at Mill Plain United Methodist Preschool, and they have for 33 years. A child who feels safe and known will try harder things. Ms. Dailey and our teaching team watch it happen every fall.
