Seven Days, One Garden, and a Room Full of Noticing

Week two brought our children the story of Creation, and then Adam and Eve. Our teachers walked through it day by day. Light. Sky. Water. Land. Plants. Animals. People. Then rest.

Three and four year olds are natural noticers. They already stop for a beetle on the sidewalk. They already point at the moon when it hangs around in a morning sky. This story hands them a frame for all that noticing. Someone made this, and it was good.

Looking closely turns into real learning later on. A child who watches a leaf change color is doing science. A child who names the animals is learning new words. Our teachers lean into that all week.

Adam and Eve gave our teachers a gentler thread to pull. God made a beautiful place and asked people to take care of it. Our children understand caring for something. They do it every day when they put the blocks back, water a plant, or pick up a crayon a friend dropped.

Crafts and coloring pages followed the story through the week. By Thursday our children knew the order, and they told most of it back to us.

Take a walk this weekend and let your child point things out along the way. That is this story doing its work.
